8-10-00 Flyaway Meeting Report As usual LAWA has scheduled a public meeting with little notice to the residents but full notice to the various airport boaster clubs. They mail a few notices to residents located adjacent to the project and call that community outreach.
Their hand out claimed that "Fly-A-way traffic on Saticoy Street will diminish". This is an outrageous lie. While autos will enter both from Woodley and Saticoy, all bus operations will enter and exit Saticoy. All of the high activity areas - Short Term Parking, Taxi Zone, and Bus traffic will directly face and impact the residents on Saticoy!
At the meeting everyone from the adjacent homes strongly opposed the layout. Don Shultz demanded that the residents comments be taken down for study instead of the "facilitators" giving their interpretation of what the resident said. Arlene Desantis, representing Joel Wachs, joined the demand that LAWA listen to the residents instead of the paid consultants.

Handout from the 8-10-00 meeting with comments added based on the meting and comments. LAWA posted it on their VNY website in PDF form some time between 5pm and 9pm on 8-10-00.
It is hard to find. First you click on "ground transport" then "flyaway Bus Service" and finally "Flyaway Improvement Project Fact Sheet". No layout or models, just the text which is a bit misleading. But for the first time ever they have posted some information and we must thank them for this first effort.
